I came to the US 45 years ago. I am a US citizen. I truly believed it was the land of opportunities, intellectual excellence, and freedom of speech. The last 9 months has been about suppressing opposing views and any opinion that threatens a narcissist’s ego. This is not what I had envisioned. I have had a good life. I loved the opportunities. Now it feels like a dictatorship (worse than Communism), where the Constitution can be ignored at the whims that of a narcissist. It makes me very sad. I don’t feel optimistic.

ReplyDeleteYesterday I learned that our former Executive Director and friend, Mabel Menard, passed away last weekend. She was the President of the OCA Chicago chapter and was involved with various Asian communities and organizations, most recently working for Chinese Mutual Aid Association after filling in more recently, as Interim ED for CAMOC. She also worked for CAMOC as ED previously. Mabel will be dearly missed by all of us, may she rest in peace. We extend our deepest and sincere condolences to her family. Please keep her family in our thoughts and prayers. No information on funeral services as yet.
